Of Portage Passed away Tuesday morning, March 4, 2008 at his residence. Ron was born February 15, 1939 in Kalamazoo the son of Horace and Nellie (Gordon) Harding and had been a lifelong resident of Portage. Ron was a retiree of the Kalamazoo Fire Department and was the longtime owner and operator of Ron's Carriage Cottage Antiques in Schoolcraft. He was a member of the Portage United Church of Christ, was involved with the IAFF Local 394 Union Leadership, spent 16 years on the City of Portage Zoning Board of Appeals, and was involved with the Village of Schoolcraft Downtown Authority. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kent Harding on March 1, 2008; and a half brother, Horace "Butch" Harding. On February 10, 1989 he was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Macak who survives. Also surviving are his 2 sons, Brian Harding, Craig (Valerie) Harding; step-children, Christine Myers, Stefanie Myers, Dr. Trevor (Andrea) Myers, Tracy (Todd) Boekeloo, Terry (Jason) Fiala; 11 g! randchildren, Marcus, Lacey, Travis, Makenzie, Ashlee, Sabrina, Kyrah, Logan, Rachel, Griffin, and Perrin; three great-grandchildren; a half-brother, Neil Harding; step brother, Robert Harding; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11:00AM Saturday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Interment will follow in South Portage Cemetery.
