Of Kalamazoo, MI Passed away Saturday morning March 1, 2008 at Rose Arbor Hospice. Richard was born May 7, 1929 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of Russell and Dott (Stauffer) Henning. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Peter Eckrich & Sons. He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching his Red Wings, Cubbies, etc. He had volunteered for many years with the Meals on Wheels Program. He genuinely cared for people and was a friend for life to those in need. He knew and loved the Lord, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, William. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Paul) Bryant of Kalamazoo and Carol (Harold) Bartholomew of Portage; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Lois V. Winn of Kalamazoo; a nephew; Ivan (Mary) Winn of Climax, nieces; Gail (Jim) Overton of Kalamazoo, Reva (Dale) Hansen, Virginia (Ted) Barga and Marilyn (John) Fielding, CA, Doris! (Dick) Weaver, NM, as well as numerous great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be held at 5 o'clock Monday evening at the First Free Will Baptist Church, 630 Moline St., Comstock, MI with Pastor John W. Vick officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Rose Arbor Hospice Program. Richard's family would like to thank Director's Hall Assisted Living, his special nurse "Michelle" and staff for the wonderful care they provided to him. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Gilbert Olivares and Advanced Cardiology staff for many years of compassionate care, and the loving staff at Rose Arbor Hospice.
