TOWNE - Galesburg, age 71, passed away Friday evening, December 5, 1997 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, where he had been a patient for the last few days. Ralph was born October 5, 1926 in Galesburg, MI the son of Harold Adams and Lula Bernice (CARSON) TOWNE and has lived here all of his life. He had been a builder in residential construction all of his life, retiring in 1982. He served during WWII in the US NAVY in the Asiatic Theatre. He was a former member of the Galesburg Rotary and a member of the Augusta Custer VFW Post #7956. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie E. in 1980 and surviving are three sons and their wives, John and Wendy TOWNE of Anchorage, Alaska, Kenneth and Kathy TOWNE, and Richard (Rick) and Kathy TOWNE, all of Elkhart, Indiana; six grandchildren, Laurie, Todd, Stacie, Autumn, Harmony and Cayene; and two great-grandchildren, Breanna and Eithan; a brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Betty TOWNE of Richland; two nieces and nephew. ! Also preceding him in death was a brother Cullen TOWNE. Family will receive friends Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Hoag-Switzer Funeral Home, 145 W. Battle Creek St., Galesburg, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 am with Rev. Whitney Brown of the Galesburg Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Galesburg. American flag presentation will be under the auspices of the Augusta Custer VFW Post #7956, to whom memorials also may be directed. 132540 W.
