Arlene was born June 16, 1928 in Salina, OK to Henry and Daisy (Woods) Canard. She was raised in Mountain View, Arkansas and attended Ouachita Baptist University. Arlene moved to Michigan as a young adult and lived in Comstock Township for over 50 years. She worked at the Sutherland Paper Company until leaving to raise her children. Later, she was self-employed and worked at Kalamazoo Manufacturing, before joining Pfizer, from which she retired. Arlene married John Paul (Jay) Kamerman on December 7, 1956. She enjoyed playing sports in her youth and took great pleasure in watching her children and grandchildren's sports and activities. There was not a more kind or generous person to be found and she will be missed by all who knew her. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Julius, Nina and Benny. Surviving family members include her husband, Jay, and sons John! (Donna) of Richland, Dan of Kalamazoo and Jerry (Margi) of Grandville; daughter, Barb (Kevin) Vizard of Portage; nine grandchildren, Mike (Heather), Darrelyn, Caitlin, Andrew, John and Ryan Kamerman, Adam, Alexandra and Natalie Vizard; great-granddaughters, Megan and Alyssa Kamerman. Also surviving are siblings Curtis (Betty Jo) Canard of Richland, Harvey (Beverly) Canard of Temperance and Betty (Stan) DeDoes of Kalamazoo; many special nieces, nephews and their families. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at Northeastern Baptist Church on East G Ave at Sprinkle, Pastor Greg Bishop officiating. Private graveside services to follow. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Thomas Rohs and the Borgess Neuro Intensive Care team. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northeastern Baptist, United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan or the char! ity of your choice.
