TILLEMA - Portage, MI, died suddenly Thursday, August 29, 1996. Jerry was born December 18, 1957 in Vicksburg, MI, the son of Jay H. and Beverly J. (YONKERS) TILLEMA, and had been a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Portage Central High School in 1976, Jerry loved working on automobiles, and had been racing stock cars at Galesburg Speedway. He was currently a self-employed carpenter, and was known to help out many people as a handyman. On September 14, 1996, Jerry and his fiancee, Monica HATHAWAY were to be married. Surviving are Monica HATHAWAY and her family; his parents, Jay and Beverly TILEMA of Portage; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Dann KLAASSEN; a niece, Jodi KLAASSEN, a nephew, Matthew KLAASSEN; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Services for Jerry will be held 1:00 Tuesday at Langeland Portage chapel 411 E. Centre Ave. A Trust 100 chapel with Pastor Harold Brown, of Ravine Road Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in! Central Portage Cemetery.
