Warren was born June 13, 1927 and raised in Oak Park, Illinois where he attended Riverside High School. While a student at Seattle University, he joined the U.S. Air Force. Stationed in Tacoma, Washington; then in Fairbanks, Alaska, Bob received the opportunity to attend the Air Force Music School in Washington, D.C. Bob played String Bass and Trombone at the school and performed with the "Airmen of Note," Glenn Miller's dance band. The band toured Europe and the Middle East, opened for the Brussels World Fair and performed at the Music Festival at Bergen, Norway from 1957-1961. After being honorably discharged, Bob returned to Chicago, met up with an Air Force buddy and musician who introduced him to an advertising agency called Boulevard Recordings. Yes, that was Bob you heard on those Campbell Soup, V-8 and Miller Beer commercials in the 1960's! He spent a summer performing at the Wagon Wheel at Lake Tahoe. Bob also worked at the John Crane Packing Company. In 1! 975, he moved to Kalamazoo to take care of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Lee Snow. He played for 24 years with the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, over five seasons with the Southwest Michigan Symphony and from 1985-2006 with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra. In retirement, he spent his time doing what he loved most, practicing and playing music. Bob died November 5, 2007. Surviving relatives are his sisters, Phyllis and family in California and Carol and family in Chicago. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, February 1st at 12:30 PM at the Kalamazoo Friends Meetinghouse, 508 Denner St., Kalamazoo. The burial ceremony will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery at 2:15 PM. Published in the Kalamazoo Gazette on 1/29/2008.
