He was born to Robert L. and Helena Madge (Ballinger) Bryan. March 28, 1932 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He attended Washington Junior High and Kalamazoo Central High School, class of 1952. He joined the United States Navy and served on the USS Henry W. Tucker during the Korean War. While in the Navy, he married Nola Jane Wells on December 27 1952. They recently celebrated their 55th anniversary. From that happy marriage came two sons, Steven Ward Bryan (wife Julie) of Ventura California and Robert Wesley Bryan (wife Jackie) of Otsego, Michigan. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Amanda, Elyse and Michelle Bryan of Ventura, California and Robert and Renee Bryan of Otsego, Michigan and two honorary grandsons, Michael and Mark Beverly of Kalamazoo. He is also survived by three brothers and one sister, Frederick Noah Bryan (wife Linda) of Portage, Jack Wayne Schiebergen (wife Polly) of Ludington, John James Bryan (wife Terri) of Fort Wa! yne, Indiana and Linda Lou Hyson (husband Dan) of Huntington, Indiana. Bob also had a close family relationship with his in-laws, Pam and Bill Ingraham of Texas Corners and Cyndy and Don Verhage of Kalamazoo. Bob was an inspector at General Motors for 28 .5 years where he was affectionately known as "BEAR". He was a member of Portage First United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge 88 and VFW Post 1527. In his earlier years he was an avid golfer, bowler and was a coach with Parchment Little League. He recently enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in band, little league, rocket football and school performances. Visitation will be Tuesday, 4-8 PM at the Langeland family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., Portage and 1-hour prior to services on Wednesday. Funeral services will take place Wednesday the 30th, 1 PM at the Portage First United Methodist Church, Pastor Greg Wood, officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Ever-Rest Chapel. Memorials may be di! rected to the Portage First United Methodist Church, 8740 S.
