She was born December 22, 1929 in Burlington Township, Michigan the daughter of Harry and Vera (Merrifield) McCracken. Marilyn attended school in Battle Creek and on July 14, 1956 was married to Allan Chapman. She was a homemaker and spent most of her married life in the Kalamazoo area. Marilyn loved to sing and was a member of the Kalamazoo Sweet Adeline's for many years as well as the Battle Creek Sweet Adeline's. She also volunteered at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo for many years. Marilyn enjoyed sewing and knitting, and spent many happy days camping and doing various activities with her son's Boy Scout troop. Surviving is her husband, Allan Chapman of Battle Creek; son, Frederick (Joan Youngdale) Chapman; and two grandsons, Caleb and Silas Chapman all of Marshall; sister, Myrna (Don) Keagle of Battle Creek; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Maurice and Harold McCracken; and one sister, Bonnie Hahn. The family! will receive friends at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home, 703 Capital Avenue, S.W., Battle Creek on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Kelly Hadlich officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
