Age 90 Kalamazoo Died March 15, 2008. Jack was born in Flint, MI on Oct. 31, 1917 the son of Jefferson and Neva (Hammond) Kerry. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army. He repaired furniture at Leath's Furniture for over 30 years. Jack was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he did volunteer work, was involved with Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts of America for over 40 years, Meals on Wheels, Big Brothers, also was a volunteer at the Red Cross, and Portage Senior Center. He and Jeannette square danced and traveled all over the country as well as Europe & British Isles with the square dancers. His greatest joy was giving other people fruits, vegetables and especially paper plates & napkins. Jack is survived by his wife Jeanette whom he married Sept. 18, 1943: Children: John Kerry, Lee (Carol) Kerry, Lynne Kovacs, Bill (Diane Purgiel) Kerry, and Pattie Ashley, eight Grandchildren: Anita (Victor) Canizalez, Maggie (Will) Stamps, Jason (Dorothy) Kovacs, Cassie (Justin) Crus! se, Melissa Kerry, John (Julie) Kerry, Michael (Tammy) Ashley and La Londa (Terry) Terpenning, 29 Great Grandchildren, Sister-in-law & Brother-in-law Gene & Mae Magiera, Sisters-in-law Gen Krolczyk, Mae Sharpe and Isabelle Sharpe, numerous nieces & nephews. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church Msgrs.
