Interment will be in the family plot at the Douglas Park Cemetery in Douglas. Virginia Anthony departed this world Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming after a courageous struggle against cancer and pulmonary hypertension. She was born May 29, 1929 in Twin Falls, Idaho the daughter of Frank L. and Virginia Louise (Tillman) Showers. She was reared and educated in Jerome, Idaho graduating from the Jerome High School on May 24, 1947. She attended Palomar College in California for two years prior to working for Western Union. She was married to Rick A. Anthony on May 6, 1953 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Virginia was a devoted mother and house wife, and also a Cub Scout leader, a Girl Scout leader, and a Teacher! 's Aide in the public schools. Virginia was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She also enjoyed participation in the Red Hat Club, and various knitting and sewing clubs. For a number of years, Virginia owned and operated the Fashion Crossroads Clothing Store in downtown Loveland, Colorado. She is survived by her children, Rick Anthony of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Barry (Bethel) Anthony of Laramie, Wyoming, Martin (Brenda) Anthony of Phoenix, Arizona, Fredrick Anthony of Colorado, Ellen Anthony of Torrington, Wyoming, and Bonnie Anthony of Cheyenne; siblings, Barbara (Marshall) Rice of Sunshine Island, Maine, Dean (Gladys) Showers of Jerome, Idaho, Shirley Jaeger (Harry Goldben) of Bogart, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Marge Anthony Morris of Douglas and Wilma Showers of Bliss, Idaho; grandchildren, Garrett Anthony, Alyssa Anthony, Joni Anthony, Kelsey Anthony, and Vidalia Potter; and great grandchildren, Sadie and Asa Smith. She was preceded in ! death by her parents; husband, Rick, on August 29, 1994; brother, Fran k Showers; grandson, Jacob Anthony; daughter-in-law, and Kathleen M. Anthony. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. A memorial to the Special Olympics of Wyoming, 232 East Second Street - Suite 201, Casper, Wyoming 82601 would be appreciated by the family.
