Kathryn was born in Baroda, MI on February 23, 1923, the youngest of ten children of the late Frederick & Phebe (Hartline) Heyn. On September 22, 1942, she was united in marriage to Robert Orth who survives. From that day on, they were always there for each other. Kathryn was a life-long Lutheran, and was most recently a member at St. James Lutheran Church of Portage. She was an avid reader who never missed a chance to learn about anything. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and playing cards. Her heart and home were always open to friends and family. Together with Robert she traveled to many places within the U.S., and took a wonderful cruise to Mexico and Key West. She was active in her families' lives; one of her proudest moments came when her great-grandson, Jonathan earned his Eagle Scout Award. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be dearly missed. Kathryn is also survived by her only daughter, Bette (Claude) Martin-Lawrence, three grandchildren, Jeffery Martin and William (Carol) Martin, and Jeffery Lawrence; her great grandson; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, Henry, Frieda, Frank, Walter, Melvin, Myrtle, Edward, Edgar, and Frederick. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place and a service date and time will be announced in the near future. Contributions in her memory may be made to Kairos Dwelling, or St. James Lutheran Church in Portage, c/o the funeral home. JOLDERSMA & KLEIN 917 S.
