She was born August 9, 1924 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Jacobus and Grace (Greendyke) Veldkamp. On March 7, 1947, she was united in marriage to Harold Hybels. Jerry was a longtime active member of Westwood Christian Reformed Church. Surviving are her five children, Daniel (Mary) Hybels of Schaumburg, IL, Marilyn (Gordon) DeBruin of Montrose, CO, Rev. William (Lynne) Hybels of Barrington, IL, Ginny (Larry) VanderZee of Grand Rapids, and Sally Hybels of Rolling Meadows, IL; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anne Klop of Grand Haven, Thress Dyksterhouse of Kalamazoo, and Lynne (John) Gernaat of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband of 31 years, Harold, in 1978; her parents; two sisters, Johanna Treur and Nellie Kuitert; and three brothers, Jake Veldkamp, Pete Veldkamp, and Jim Veldkamp. ! Funeral services for Jerry will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, Feb. 12, at Westwood Christian Reformed Church, 620 Northampton Road, with Pastor Bill Fernhout officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 PM on Thursday, Feb. 11, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street and on Friday from 12:00 PM until the time of service at church. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Westwood Christian Reformed Church - Building Fund, Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, or Camp Paradise (c/o Willow Creek Community Church).
