Of Portage, MI Died Sunday morning, June 1, 2008. Richard was born October 3, 1922 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a son of John and Wilma (DeHoff) Cox, Sr. During WWII, he served in the Pacific Theater with the U.S. Marines and the landing of Iwo Jima. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with Allied Paper for 44 years, retiring in 1984. He was also a member of the Portage Moose Lodge #88; V.F.W. and American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorraine C. Cox on October 10, 1998; and a brother, John Cox, Jr. in 1991. He is survived by two sons, Mickey (Cora) Cox of Yuma, AZ and Larry (Linda) Cox of Detroit, MI; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Byron (Toni) Cox of Galesburg; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 o'clock Thursday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Private burial will take! place in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice. www.langelands.com. 269-343-1508.
