Clifford was born November 4, 1928 in McKinney, Texas, a son of Issac and Clara (Bridges) Brown. During the Korean Conflict, he served with the U.S. Navy. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1974 and was employed with the Upjohn Company for 20 years, before retiring. He also acted, directed, and stage managed at the Kalamazoo Civic for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alfred Brown. On August 27, 1993, he was united in marriage to Candyce D. (Shaw) Brown, who survives. Also surviving, eight children, Holly (Loren) Tarner and Margaret Hathaway, all of Vicksburg, David (Heather) Hathaway of California, Pamela Goodacre, Karen Brown and Susan Clark, all of Kalamazoo and twins, Carla Waller of Kalamazoo and Clifford Brown II of Jacksonville, FL; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a cousin, Maxine Willie of Dallas, TX; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held! 9 o'clock Friday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St . Visitation will be 5-8 PM Thursday. Interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery with full military honors.
