He was a true inspiration and a man of immense courage and determination. The family would like to thank the staff at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence for the compassionate care he received during his stay there. Scott was born July 6, 1959 in Kalamazoo. He graduated from Portage Central High School and Central Michigan University. He retired from Portage Public Schools in September 2007. Scott enjoyed the outdoors, water sports, snowmobiling, and time spent with family and friends. Members of his family include his wife, Tracy; his daughter, Alyssa; his parents, Charles and Lucile Hammond; and his sisters, Cathy (Duane) Antcliff and Patricia (Stephen) Woollam. Family will greet and visit with friends on Friday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM and Saturday from 10 to 11 AM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI. The memorial! service will be held Saturday at 11 AM at the Westside Chapel. Please dress casually as Scott would prefer.
