Anne E. Godfrey of Kalamazoo passed away Friday, June 13 at Upjohn Community Care Center. Anne was born November 12, 1919 in Kalamazoo. She was the daughter of Clarke and Lois Godfrey. Miss Godfrey graduated from Kalamazoo College, Vanderbilt University School of Nursing and received her doctorate from the University of Chicago. She practiced, taught and administered nursing of children her entire professional life. Her first position in 1942 was as a staff nurse at Vanderbilt University Hospital. She retired in 1982 as Associate Professor of Nursing of Children at Case Western Reserve University and Director of Nursing of Children at University Hospital of Cleveland. Anne was presented The Distinguished Alumni Award by Vanderbilt University. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarke and Lois Godfrey, her brother Robert Godfrey and her sister Jeane Godfrey, all of Kalamazoo. She is survived by a nephew Brooks Godfrey (Mary) of Kalamazoo, a nephew Clarke Godfrey (Kath! erine) of Denver, Colorado, a niece Lane Odalovich (David) of Davison, Michigan and five great nephews and nieces. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Kalamazoo College or Heritage Community of Kalamazoo. The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Community for their loving care of Anne.
