Jr. "Red" Age 82 Shawnee, KS Formerly of KCK Passed away Saturday, June 14, 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM, Tuesday, June 17, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3024 N 53rd St., KCK. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery 1150 N. 38th St. Friends may call from 5 -8 PM, Monday at Joseph A Butler and Son Funeral Home, 19th & Minnesota Ave., KCK, where the Rosary will be said at 6:30 PM. The family suggests memorials to Kansas City Hospice House 12000 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO, 64145 and the Sisters, Servants of Mary, 800 N. 18th St., Kansas City, KS 66102. Frank was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on January 13th 1926. The 4th of six children, he enjoyed a vibrant youth, as he and his family overcame the struggles of the Great Depression and World War II. In 1951, he was awarded an all expense paid trip to Korea by the U.S. Government, which included a brief stopover at Ft. Riley Kansas. While in Kansas he met the love of his life, Joanne Dailey. After returning from Korea, he moved to Kansas Cit! y, Kansas and married Joanne on November 28th, 1953. In 1957, Frank joined the Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department where he served 22 years, 15 as a Captain, before retiring in 1979. In 1981, he went to work for the Kansas City, Kansas School District before retiring for good in 1990. He was a longtime member of the American Legion, a lifetime Democrat, and a good friend to many. His door was always open, he never came empty-handed, and his gifts of homemade tomato wine and his famous ham and beans earned him the nick name "Mr. Nice Guy". Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne, daughters, Susie and Cheryl, parents, Frank and Frances Leet, brothers, Robert and Max Leet, and sister, Mary Ann Strong. He is survived by son David Leet and wife, Laurie, daughter Terri Rich and husband, Tom, daughter, Mary Kay Seal, son Frank J. Leet and wife, Teri, sister, Elaine Boersma, brother, Don Leet, nine grandchildren Amber, Courtney, Devin, Claire, Nick, Emily, Christopher, Jaco! b, and Kendra, and two great-grandchildren Addison and Connor.
