Tony was born November 9, 1953 in Meridian, MS. He received Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at First Union Baptist Church in Meridian, MS. Tony graduated from Saginaw High School in 1971. He was a National Merit Scholar, voted "Most Valuable Player" of the football team and was honored in Who's Who in American High Schools 1970-1971. In 1971, he entered Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. He became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Gamma Beta Chapter in 1972 as well as one of the original Founders of the Saginaw Alumni Chapter, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. on December 3, 1972. Tony was an employee of Summit Polymers Valley in Kalamazoo, MI. Tony is survived by his wife, Darlene and loving siblings, Veronica Carter Hamilton of Saginaw, MI, Reginald (Gladys) Carter of Lansing, MI, S! tanwyn Jay (Dorothea) Carter of Houston, TX and Lisa R. Carter of Lansing, MI. He was the adored father of Jacqueline Lebron of Holland, MI, Louis Balli of Flint, MI, Danielle Carter, Daniel and Christina Carter and Nicole Carter of Kalamazoo, MI. Tony was also the step-father of John Davis (J.D.) Scruggs of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by nine beautiful grandchildren, Ashley, DeAna, Dominic Lebron of Holland, MI, Amarii and Lawrence Taylor III of Kalamazoo, MI; Aaliyah, Tamia, Loumia, and Louis Balli, Jr. of Flint, MI. Tony had one great-grandson, Gavin Gibson of Holland, MI. Tony is also survived by mentor and uncle, John Boyd Carter of New Haven, Ct.; cherished aunt, Dorothy Jean Rue of Detroit, MI and beloved brother-in-law, Sullivan Hamilton of Lansing, MI; as well as a host of dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 11 AM at the REDMOND Funeral Home 4100 S. Westnedge -343-6156 Published in the Kalamazoo Gazette on 6/17/2008.
