Of Kalamazoo Passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 20, 2008 at Bronson Methodist Hospital following a lengthy illness. Rodney was born July 23, 1953 in Las Vegas, NM, the son of William J. and Lois V. (Henning) Winn. His Christian upbringing was an important influence in his life, giving him a very loving and giving nature. He very often put others needs before his own. He had an exceptional intelligence with a large vocabulary and always wanted to help others exceed through mentoring. He can now rest in his Heavenly home playing a cello. He is survived by his loving mother, Lois, of Kalamazoo; his brother, Ivan (Mary) Winn of Climax; five sisters, Reva (Dale) Hansen of Apple Valley, CA, Doris (Richard) Weaver of Glenwood, NM, Virginia (Ted) Barga, Marilyn (John) Fielding, both of Hemet, CA and Gail (Jim) Overton of Kalamazoo; two sisters-in-law, Gloria and Debbie Winn; his uncle, Richard Henning of Kalamazoo; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dear friends, Wesley II, Wes III, Ka! lven and Zach Boland. He was preceded in death by his father, William J.; four brothers, Jim, Gary, Bobby and Mike Winn; and his "much loved" dogs Heidi and Kobuk. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Memorial services will be held 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon, March 1, 2008 at the First Free Will Baptist Church, 630 Moline, Comstock, with Pastor John W. Vick officiating. Contributions in his memory may be made to First Free Will Baptist Church. Rodney's family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and staff at Bronson ICU for their compassionate care they gave to him during his struggle with diabetes, as well as to Dr. Gilbert Olivares (Advanced Cardiology).
