Was born to the union of John Henry and KC (Stubbs) Manuel on August 21, 1932 in Oak Grove, Louisiana. Henry passed away on February 6, 2008. Henry proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. He was fondly known as the "Praying Deacon" at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He also participated in the Mentoring Program and was active with the Prison Ministry. He retired from the Coca Cola Bottling Company in Paw Paw in 1996. He leaves to celebrate his life, loving wife, Sadie Manuel; three devoted daughters, Sheila Gothard of Greensboro, NC, Sheray Manuel of Grand Rapids, MI and Sheletha Manuel of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren, Aubrey and Ashley Gothard; long-time family friend, Pirley Bracken, and a host of other loving family and many dear friends. Services will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 120 Roberson St. Family hour is at 12 Noon, service at 1:00 PM, Pastor Addis Moore, officiating. Published in the Kalamazoo Gazette on 2/10/2008.
