Of Portage Went to be with the Lord, Monday morning, February 11, 2008. Jack was born April 9, 1936 in The Netherlands, the son of Abraham and Cora (Hendricks) Bruining. Jack was employed with A&P for 32 years where he was the produce manager and then later retired from Sanitor Manufacturing. He was a member of Milwood Christian Reformed Church and was an avid Kalamazoo Christian High School sports fan. Jack especially loved to watch his grand-daughters sports activities as well as coaching soccer for KCHS and AYSO for several years. Jack enjoyed spending time outdoors, going on fishing trips, deer hunting, and was an avid gardener. On June 10, 1955, he was united in marriage to his loving wife of 52 years, the former Joan Johnson, who survives. Also surviving are his son, Larry (Linda) Bruining; two grand-daughters, Julianne and Amy Bruining; his mother, Cora Bruining; four brothers, Henry (Nancy) Bruining, Bernard (Grace) Bruining, Luke (Dorothy) Bruining, Martin Bruining; and sever! al nieces and nephews. Services will be held 12:00 PM Friday at Milwood Christian Reformed Church, 3306 Lovers Lane, with Rev. Loren Kotman, officiating. A time of fellowship will immediately follow services. Friends may meet the family Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre St. and from 11-12 PM Friday at the church. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.
