She was born June 8, 1935 in Hastings, MI, the daughter of Carl and Louise (Contino) Rogers and had lived in the Kalamazoo area for many years. She was a member of Texas Corners Bible Church, made porcelain dolls and crocheted small baby bonnets for Neo-Natal departments. She always had a smile, no matter how hard the situation she was in. On August 16, 1975, she married Otto Koomans, who survives. Rose is also survived by her mother, Louise Rogers of Battle Creek; her children, Lawrence (Kimberly) Hickman of Galesburg, Kathy (Dwight) Palmer of Galesburg and Susan Hickman of Mattawan; a step-son, Otto Koomans, Jr. of Marysville, CA; five grandchildren, Leann Palmer, James Palmer, Sarah Wells, Matthew Wells and Laura Rebec; a great-granddaughter, Alahna Rebec; two brothers, Robert (Dianne) Rogers of East Leroy and James (Helen) Rogers of Battle Creek; nieces and nephews. S! he was preceded in death by her father; a son, James Hickman and a brother, William Rogers. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
