Lorraine was born March 29, 1917 in Tupelo, MS, the daughter of John and Leona SHERROD. At an early age she moved to Battle Creek, MI, with her parents. Lorraine attended Battle Creek Public Schools, graduating from Battle Creek Central in June of 1934. After uniting in marriage to R. J. SUTTON, she moved to Kalamazoo, MI. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. In July, 1994, Lorraine moved to Lansing where she lived with her daughter and loving caregiver, Sharon POWELL, until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Leona SHERROD; her husband R. J.; daughters, Sarita L. COLLINS, Lynette and Jeanette; son Kevin; and a brother John SHERROD. She is survived by her sons, James of Kalamazoo, MI, and Richard (Cynthia) of Orange, NJ; daughters, Sharon POWELL, Colette (Edward) and Vanessa of Lansing, MI; son-in-law, George COLLINS of Kalamazoo; 2! brothers, Donald (Barbara) and Orville (Thelma) SHERROD of Battle Creek; 2 sisters, Rose PATTERSON and Catherine WILLIAMS of Battle Creek; sister-in-law, Wilma SHERROD of Jackson; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and also a host of many dear friends. Services will be held 12 Noon Wednesday at Second Baptist Church, Rev. M. W. Wright officiating.
