Andrew P. Kovach went to be with the Lord on Feb. 13, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with cancer and multiple sclerosis. He died at home surrounded by loved ones, including granddaughter Gloria and her husband Christian Johnson, who provided loving care his last few months. Andy was born July 18, 1930, in Kalamazoo, MI. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Harriett Hunt in 1952. Andy retired from Consumers Power Co. after being diagnosed with MS, and he and Harriett moved to Mesa, AZ, in 1986. Andy was loved by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his easy chuckle, his fierce determination to live life as normally as possible and his rowdy competitiveness at cards. Andy is survived by his wife, four children (Debi, Andy Joe, Chris, Karen), 13 grandchildren (Glo, Chris, Kelly, Kiel, Shea, Kelsey, Drew, Derrick, Annie, Dee, Don, Vi, Matt), two remaining sisters (Liz, Helen) and numerous great-grandchildren. We know he's in heaven with h! is siblings! Private interment services were held at Veterans National Memorial Cemetery in Cave Creek, AZ. Published in the Kalamazoo Gazette on 2/15/2008.
