Schoolcraft, MI Died Friday morning February 15, 2008. Philip was born March 9, 1941 in Nashville, Michigan a son of Herbert and Velma (Goetchius) Spencer. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of his life and was employed with Auto Owners Insurance Company for over 30 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Lake Center Bible Church; Family Alter Chapel in Battle Creek; Schoolcraft Methodist Men's Bible Study; Schoolcraft Lions Club; Kalamazoo Diving Club; and the Masons. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Paul; former wife, Kathleen Spencer in 1994; and his step mother, Greta Harris. On May 28, 2004, he was united in marriage to Deborah M. (Kreider) Spencer who survives. Also surviving, six children, Lisa Spencer and Eric Spencer both of Kalamazoo, Kori Spencer of Vicksburg, Kylee Spencer of Kalamazoo, Thomas Mendham of Portage, and Brett Cooper of Florida; three grandchildren, Aubree, Britnee, and Philip; two sisters, Connie Wissink of Kalamazoo and Becky Kl! unker if Wisconsin; a brother, Dennis (Teresa) Spencer of Battle Creek; his step father, Robert Harris of Battle Creek; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday at the Lake Center Bible Church, 805 E. Osterhout Rd. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Private burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Michigan Diabetes Association or the Gift of Life.
