Mr. Moorehead married Julie Ann Phillips on July 7, 1941, in Lowdnes County, MS. The Mooreheads were married for 61 years at the time of Mrs. Moorehead's death in 2002. Mr. Moorehead was a World War II Veteran. The Mooreheads moved to Kalamazoo in 1953. Mr. Moorehead was employed at the Miller-Davis Construction Company for 28 years, before his retirement in 1981. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher Board for many years. Upon retirement, Mr. Moorehead worked part-time at the church for more than 20 years. He was preceded in death by a step-son, Eddie Robinson. Surviving are two daughters, Judie (Chuck) Days of Cleveland, OH and Elizabeth (Harry) Washington of Phoenix, AZ; five sons, Herman (Gloria) and Carl, both of Kalamazoo, Claude of Lansing, MI, Allen of Grand Rapids, MI and Gregory of New Brunswick, NJ; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a close ! nephew and niece, Lindy and Geri Walden of Detroit; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday with a 12 noon family hour at Second Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. M.W. Wright, officiating. Friends may view 3-6 PM Wednesday at the Harper Funeral Home, 521 Douglas Avenue, 342-1000. Interment Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.
