Dawn (Horning) Formerly of Richland and Kalamazoo Passed away February 8, 2008 in Mesa, AZ. Dawn was born May 14, 1931 in Ionia, MI, the daughter of Roy and Louise Horning. She was raised and went to school in Richland and graduated in 1949. On February 26, 1954, she married Sidney Smith of Richland in the Mission Covenant Church. Dawn worked for Marvane Oil Company for 30 years. After traveling in their motorhome they settled in Mesa, AZ, living there 12 years. She is survived by her husband, Sidney Smith and three children, Robert (Kathy) Smith of Vicksburg, Pamela (Bill) Halroyd of Portage and David (Kim) Smith of Battle Creek. Also survived by her grandchildren, Chris (Andrea) Sackett of Kalamazoo, Dr. Gary (Dawn) Sackett of Kentwood, Patrick and Shawn Sackett of Portage, David, Nelson and Amber Smith of Battle Creek and Brandon Smith of Vicksburg. Dawn also is survived by two great-grandchildren, Madaline Sackett and Summer Sackett. Dawn has been cremated and will be buried at Fort Custer. Time and date will be announced at later date.
