Kalamazoo Franklin died Wednesday afternoon, February 13, 2008, at his home. He was born June 3, 1920 in Neenah, WI, a son of Franklin and Charlotte (Hartmann) Sebastian and had lived in the Kalamazoo area since 1952. Franklin worked as a mechanical and electrical engineer in the paper industry for over 40 years before retiring. He was a member and Past Master of Masonic Lodge #22, F&AM; a member and past president of the Kalamazoo Shrine Club, where he was active as a clown and crippled children coordinator; a member of the Scottish Rite; a member of Moose Lodge # 88; a member of the American Legion and a member of the Mall City Barbershop Chorus. On October 16, 1948, Franklin was united in marriage with the former Thelma L. Scott, who preceded him in death on October 13, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Dorothy and a brother, Robert. Surviving are: three sons, Franklin (Nancy) Sebastian of Tampa, FL, Scott (Karen) Sebastian of Three Rivers and Paul (Kat! hy) Sebastian of Vicksburg; a foster son, Todd (Alta) Bradley of Comstock; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A Masonic memorial service will be held 4:00 Saturday afternoon at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick, with Masonic Lodge #22, F&AM Chaplain, Roy Ballot, officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private inurnment in Mount Ever Rest Memorial Park will be held at a later date.
