Ardis was born in Kalamazoo on February 5, 1920, the daughter of Charles & Winifred (Laird) Morgan. Her primary love was swimming, walking on the beach and fishing on Lake 11. She also enjoyed growing flowers and camping. On November 14, 1942, she married her high school sweetheart, Reid McCarty, who preceded her in death on April 17, 2007. Surviving are her children, Susan Coulbourn of Pennsylvania, Brian McCarty of Belding, Alan & Diane McCarty of Kent City and Larry & Jan McCarty of Kalamazoo; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
