Anne's strong sense of faith sustained her during her courageous journey with breast cancer. Anne was born August 8, 1951 in Kalamazoo MI, to the late Tom and Lucille Shinners. After graduating from Monsignor O'Brien High School, she received her BS from Western Michigan State University and her Masters in Special Education from California State University at Fullerton. Anne married Phil Palm on February 28, 1981, in Palm Springs CA. They resided in California, Pennsylvania and Michigan before they moved to Oro Valley, AZ, in 2003. Anne loved to cook, travel, entertain and was especially devoted to her family and special education students. Anne had a gift for developing new friends wherever she lived. She was active with her Newcomers Group and with Bible Study Fellowship. Anne gently touched the lives of many. She had a great sense of humor, was an avid reader and was al! ways creating new word combinations. Anne will be remembered for her grace, style and poise. She is survived by her husband, Phil; son, Mitchell, daughter Gillian; sister, Mary Stoddard (Dan), South Carolina; sister, Patricia Allison (Robert), Michigan; sister, Carol Shinners, Arizona; brother, Tom Shinners (Pat), Michigan; brother, Dave Shinners, Michigan; brother, Peter Shinners (Kathy), New Hampshire. Anne had a true passion for life, a caring spirit and was a generous person with her time and love. Anne was loved by so many and will always be remembered forever in our hearts. A mass will be held at 12:00 noon on Feb. 29, 2008 at St. Mark Catholic Church located at 2727 West Tangerine Rd., Oro Valley, AZ 85742. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent either to: the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Fund or to: the St. Mark's Church building fund at 2727 W. Tangerine Rd., Oro Valley AZ 85742.
