Case was born July 16, 1921 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Koert and Jennie SCHOONBECK, and was a lifelong resident of the Kalamazoo/Portage area. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Case was employed for 20 years at Michigan Disposal Company, and for 20 years at Imperial Beverage Company until his retirement. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara FREEMIRE in 1986; and by 2 brothers, Albert and John SCHOONBECK. On November 19, 1943, he was united in marriage to the former Grace NAP, who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, Larry SCHOONBECK and Ron SCHOONBECK and wife, Ginger, all of Kalamazoo; 7 grandchildren, Cheri (Mike) LYSTER, Terri (Scott) NORRIS, Tammi (Don) BOVEN, Mike, Mark, Bruce and Kevin SCHOONBECK; 4 great-grandchildren, Casey, Jacob, Brandi and Jarod; a sister, Hilda KUIELMA of Kalamazoo; and a brother, Henry SCHOONBECK of Tennessee; ! several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1:00 o'clock Wednesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Memorial Chapel 622 S. Burdick St. with the Rev. Ed Hommes, Chaplain at Borgess Hospital, officiating. Interment in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may meet the family this evening from 7-9 p.m. at the chapel.
