She was born abt. 1866 in New York. Her birth father was L. Sova, but her mother (Lorinda Hart Cooper) were not married. Her mother eventually married James Lewis Cooper in Charlotte. I had "lost" Myrtle after the 1880 census. I have just found a probable link for her---in the 1905 Kalamazoo Directory. It reads "Cooper, Myrtle att female dept Mich Asylum for the Insane." (Does anyone happen to know if 'att' would mean someone who was admitted, or who worked there?) Her parents (James and Lorinda Cooper) are also listed as living in Kalamazoo at the time, as well as siblings, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles, etc. I am having trouble finding her in the 1900 or 1910 census, and am not sure where the Asylum was located (which ward) to be able to check the listings there. If anyone has any thoughts, suggestions or ideas, they are most certainly welcome. This new information has made me hopeful of fin! ding Myrtle's "story"---where and when she died, and perhaps a bit about her life. My thanks again!
