Allamophi was born October 26, 1939 in Battle Creek, Michigan to the late R. J. Sutton and Lorraine (Sherrod) Sutton. He resided in Kalamazoo, Michigan, his entire life. He was baptized at Second Baptist Church on Walbridge Street as a youth; and he sang in the choir. Allamophi loved sports and was an avid University of Michigan fan. He ran in several marathons across the country and was well known in Kalamazoo as a runner. Allamophi could be seen running down S. Drake Road or other streets throughout Kalamazoo. Allamophi attended Kalamazoo Public Schools; he graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force March 12, 1958. He received an honorable discharge March 9, 1962. Allamophi attended Western Michigan University. He was employed by Upjohn-Pharmacia-Pfizer as a Chemist Assistant for over 30 years; he retired! in 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents, R.J. and Lorraine Sutton, sisters, Sarita Collins and Nellie Terry, brother, Kevin Sutton, and brother-in-law, George Collins. Allamophi leaves to cherish his memory one brother, Richard (Cynthia) Sutton of Orange, N.J.; three sisters, Sharon Powell, Colette (Edward) Woods, Vanessa Sutton, all of Lansing, MI; two aunts; a special nephew, Robert Terry of Kansas City, KS who was like a son; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 PM Friday, March 19, 2010 at the Harper Funeral Home, 521 Douglas Avenue, 342-1000. Funeral Services will be held 1 PM Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Second Baptist Church. Interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM.
