Jean was born March 5, 1922 in Coldwater, Michigan a daughter of Chester and Arnauld (Kimmell) Rathbun. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with the Portage Public Schools for 15 years before retiring. Jean always put her family first and loved her kids at school. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benjamin B. Zylman; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by six children, Michael (Linda) Dorgan of Portage, William (Denise) Dorgan of Allegan, Rebecca (Paul) Roberts of Mattawan, Benjamin A. Zylman of Kalamazoo, Debra (Jeff) Price of Vicksburg, and Sue Ellen Zylman of Kalamazoo; many grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Cekander of Athens, MI; three brothers, Buster (Mary) Rathbun, Lee (Deb) Rathbun, and Clyde Rathbun all of Coldwater, MI; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 10 o'clock Friday at the Langeland Fami! ly Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday. Graveside services will be 2:30 Friday in Fort Custer National Cemetery.
