He was born December 21, 1923 in Lake Linden, MI, the son of Dalma and Grandaline (Gagnon) Daniels. Jerry graduated from high school in 1941. He was awarded a one year scholarship to Michigan State University, after which he worked at the Arctic Ice Cream Co. in Kalamazoo. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II as a teletype operator from 1946-1950. Following his service in the Army, returned to Kalamazoo and attended four years at Western Michigan University, and began working for American National Bank in 1950, where he worked for 40 years until his retirement. Surviving are his wife, Mary Daniels; daughter, Robyn Stephens of Portage; two step-sons, Dale (Bonnie) Reed of Kalamazoo and Larry (Lisa) Reed of Bloomingdale; and numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Bart and Morris Daniels; one sister, Sr. Daniel Marie Daniels; and son-in-law, Tom Stephens. Funeral services for Jerry will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at Lang! eland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, with Fr. James O'Leary officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 12:00 PM until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Alzheimer's Association.
