Mike was born in Four States, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Teresa (Toffanetti) Maset and Domenic Maset, immigrants through Ellis Island from Cordenons, Italy. Mike was named Americo because he was the first of his family to be born in America! After his father's untimely death when he was 15, Mike became the family's breadwinner and moved to New Jersey where he learned and later became an embroidery business owner. Mike was a World War II Veteran and a recipient of the Bronze Star, which was awarded for his contributions to the electronics of fighter planes. Mike was united in marriage on February 14, 1948 to Eunice "Bunny", who preceded him in death in 1992. Also preceding him in death were a brother and two sisters. Throughout his adult life, Mike enjoyed working with kids through organizations such as the Boy Scouts. He was also involved for many years as a coach for competitive swimming teams. Mike ! was tons of fun and everyone loved to "hang out" with him. He enjoyed dancing on Friday nights, playing cards, golf and having a freshly caught "fish fry" with his friends. Mike prided himself on being quiet self sufficient until the very recent past. He even declared himself to be an excellent driver and he admonished the "old folks" where he lived who parked incorrectly and frequently made him dent their cars! Mike is survived by his three children: Douglas (Claire) Maset of Newburgh, NY, Richard (Joan) Maset of Houston, TX and Gigi (Mark Howland, of Portage, MI; 11 grandchildren; two great granddaughters; three sisters, Olivia (Anthony) DiVincent, Elizabeth (Joseph) Nenning and Elda (Arnold) Zandonella; many nieces and nephews and his special friend, Ferril Arnson of Portage.
