He trusted Christ as his Savior while a young boy and pointed the rest of his life to serve the Lord. Amongst many other ministries, Douglas was the Visitation and Interim pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church of Kalamazoo from 1966 to 1976. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Ruby Berkholtz, Elizabeth Ann Smith, Dorothy Jean Yoder and his brothers, Harry Edward Beason, Robert Oscar Beason. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Arlene Marcella Reinhold; daughter, Joy Ann Bell (husband, Bill) and sons, Paul Douglas and Timothy Ray (wife, Lori); three granddaughters, Jennifer Jones (husband, Edward II), Katy Zylstra (husband, Andy), Sarah Beason and one grandson, Daniel Beason and one great grandson, Edward Jones III (Trey). The Memorial Service will be hosted by the Maplelawn Baptist Church, 124 Maplelawn SW on Friday, February 26 at 11:00 AM. The family! will meet with friends on Thursday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo SE, Kentwood, and on Friday from 10-11 AM at the church. Memorials to C.O.M.E. and Maplelawn Baptist Church will be appreciated.
