Esther was born on October 31, 1915 in Saginaw County, MI, the daughter of Frederick and Sophia (Nurminger) Rohloff. Esther was married to Elmer Buetow for 56 years. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Midland, MI for 60 years, and for the past 11 years she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo. She was a 1937 graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing in Saginaw, MI and a lifelong member of the school's alumnae group. Esther was a member of St. John's Lutheran Ladies Aid Society, Mary-Martha service organization, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Midland Little League Baseball Mothers' Auxiliary, Midland County Nurses Association, and she was the Friendship Ambassador for Park Place Assisted Living. Elmer and Esther were among the founding parents of St. John's Lutheran School in Midland, MI. She provided private duty nursing services from 1939 to 1942 for the wife of! H.H. Dow, the founder of Dow Chemical Company in Midland, MI. She dedicated countless hours of service to members and friends of St. John's Lutheran Church. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer O. Buetow; her parents; four brothers, Carl Rohloff, Ruben Rohloff, Norman Rohloff, her twin brother, Paul Rohloff, and a sister, Marie Rohloff. Esther is survived by three sons: Paul (Diane) Buetow of St. Louis, MO, Tom (Beatrix) Buetow of Louisville, KY and John (Candy) Buetow of Kalamazoo, MI; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 9:30 until 10:50 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 2122 Bronson Blvd. in Kalamazoo, where funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM, pastors Tim Seeber, Larry Brelje and Louis Grother officiating. A committal service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Chapel Hill Mausoleum and Cemetery in Freeland, MI. A gathering! will be held following that service at St. John's Lutheran Church, 50 5 E. Carpenter St., Midland, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 2122 Bronson Blvd., Kalamazoo, MI 49008, St. John's Lutheran Church, 505 E.
