Kalamazoo Formerly of Napeles, FL Went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2010 at University Hospitals in Ann Arbor. Joyce was born on February 29, 1940, the daughter of the late Berend and Gertrude (VandenBerg) Jager. She was a faithful women, who lead a Christ centered life. She had a kind and gentle nature, and was loving in all that she did. In serving the Lord, she was involved in a mission trip to Africa, and in many events at the church. She loved her family and was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She sold realestate for several years, but when not working could be found knitting, doing quilt work, or reading one of her many books. She had an open heart and door, and everyone was always made to feel welcome in her life. She is a dear women who will be missed. She is survived by, two children, Randy (Cindy) Ritsema and Mindy Ritsema; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Ritsema, Kimberly Carpenter, and Bradly Robinson; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Donna) Jager; a nephew, Michael (Pam) Jager; a niece, Lori (David) Martin; and many good friends. She was also preceded in passing by a daughter, Sheryl Rose Arra. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at 11:00 AM, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 5625 Oakland Dr., Portage, MI 49024, with Pastor Jeff McVay officiating.
