His parents were Edward Pierce and Rose Ella Meier. I do not have the information on him, other than birth date and death date. (Donald Pierce 1912-2000) He was born and died in Allegan County. At the age of three he came with his family to Plainwell where he lived most of his life. Don married Bernedeen B. Dussia in 1936. He was the first man from Plainwell to go an serve in World War II. He landed in Normandy, France in 1944 while serving in the army. Don was an excellent carpenter and built many homes in the Plainwell area during his life. For many years he was a member of the American Legion. Don was a sports fan and he was loyal about watching his grandchildren's and great grandchildren's activities. He also loved to fish and deer hunt. Don's family includes his daughter and her husband, Elaine and Irvin Figel and Allegan. His three grandchildren with their spouses are, Julie and Stephen Potter, Melanie and Todd Rice and Matthew Figel and special friend Tina Gibbs. Don also has four great grandchildren, Brock and Nolan Potter, Quinton and Tessa Rice, a brot! her and his wife, Dale and Laura Pierce of Kalamazoo. Preceding him in death were his parents, Willard and Daisy Pierce; his wife, Bernedeen; a sister, Mildred; brothers, Alfred and Charles Pierce. Friends may spend time with his family on Wednesday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Rupert, Durham, Marshall and Gren Funeral Home, Plainwell Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday at 11 am at the funeral home. Don will be buried next to his wife at Hillside Cemetery.
