Betty was born April 11, 1943 in Minnehaha County, SD, a daughter of Gerrit and Nellie (Van Duyn) Van Dyk and had lived in the Portage area for over 45 years. She was a member of Third Christian Reformed Church where she served on many committees. On November 15, 1963, she married Jack Vandermay, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Steve Vandermay of Paw Paw, Julie Vandermay (Tara) of Philadelphia, PA, Marie (Kevin) Gleesing of Portage and Beverly (Doug) Vanderwell of Rockford, MI; four grandchildren, Anne, Ben, Kayce and Alicyn; four sisters, Dorothy (Donald) Boom of Marion, ND, Audrey (James) Reurink of Colton, SD, Elaine (Roy) Van Liere of Colton, SD and Mary (Allen) Medendorp of Los Alamos, NM; a brother, Gerald (Jana) Van Dyk of Pella, IA; a sister-in-law, Jelene Van Dyk of Portage; many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Marvin Van Dyk. Betty was the one everyone we! nt to when they needed help or needed something to be done, making everyone feel welcome and cared for. She served selflessly in so many areas - her husband, children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, extended family and the church. She was involved in many different ministries including Bible Study Fellowship, Kids Hope, Alpha, International Students Luncheon. She lived passionately for her Lord, her family and others. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 AM on Saturday in the Third Christian Reformed Church, 2400 Winchell Ave., with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Baker and Rev. Victor Ko, officiating. Interment will be in Portage Central Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
