Susie was born November 13, 1925 in Nescopeck, PA, the oldest of six children born to Muriel and Earl Wolfe. On October 4, l947, she married Richard Painton, who survives her. Her four surviving children are Judy Painton of Eugene of Oregon, Linda Painton of Kalamazoo, Richard Painton, Jr. (Barbara) Painton of Hickory Corners and Barbara (John) Schurr of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren, Jasmine, Jonquil, Juniper, Willow, Kyle and Amy (Toby) Ferris; three great-grandchildren, Raylene, Annalore, Leila; four sisters, Irene Painton of Cocoa Beach, FL, Shirley Day of Kure Beach, NC, Grace Flesher of Harrisburg, PA and Marian Noss of Shickshinny, PA. In 1958, Susan and Dick moved to Kalamazoo where Dick was employed by the Upjohn Company. Wherever Susie found herself she made a contribution, always concerned for others. She was a volunteer for the Kalamazoo Red Cross where she worked with st! roke victims and assisted in blood drives. Susie was also an enthusiastic worker for the Maple Street YMCA in Kalamazoo where she faithfully attended fitness classes and learned to swim. Susan was a member of the First Methodist Church of Kalamazoo, rarely missing a Sunday service until her deteriorating health prevented her. She was true to her faith in her loving kindness to her family and friends. All who knew her will miss her sweetness and courage. Memorial service for Susan will be at 2 PM on Friday at The Fountains at Bronson Place auditorium, 1700 Bronson Way. On Saturday, friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM a the Langeland Family Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street.
