Jerry was born June 6, 1942, to Peter and Bobbie Jean (Griffin) Johnson. He lived and worked in the Benton Harbor/ Coloma area until 1979 when he married his wife Candace (Zechiel) and they relocated to Kalamazoo. Jerry ran his own refrigeration and appliance repair service for many years until an injury forced him to retire. He loved the Lord and also loved to help people. He is survived by his wife, Candace; his son, Jeremy; his father, Peter of Viola, AR; his sister, Shirley (Peter) Mengel of Kalamazoo; his brother, Peter (Sandy) Johnson of Hartford and many dearly loved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother. He loved spending time with family and friends. Friends may visit with Jerry's family Thursday, April 24, 2008 from 12 to 2 PM at the Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet where Jerry's life will be celebrated following visitat! ion at 2 PM with Keith Griffin, officiating. Burial will follow in Coloma Cemetery. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Humane Society. Published in the Kalamazoo Gazette on 4/23/2008.
