Ray was born August 25, 1929 in Kalamazoo, a son of David and Althea (Findley) Gordon and was a lifelong resident of the Kalamazoo area. He was employed in the paper industry for 46 years, and retiring from the James River Corp. In his spare time, he enjoyed casinos, traveling with his fifth wheel trailer and working on cars with his son, Ray, Jr. He loved his six grandchildren and his cats. On June 28, 1952, he married the former Minnie Troff, who preceded him in death on March 29, 1999. He was also preceded by his parents; two brothers, Millard and Eugene; and a nephew, Dean Gordon. Ray is survived by his children, Raymond Gordon, Jr. of Comstock, Janet (Steve) Green of Vicksburg and Tracy (Tim) Kingsley of Portage; his special companion, Patricia Shilts and her family, of Galesburg; six grandchildren, Raymond III, Michael, Mark, Mitch, and his "Barker's Beauties" Lauren and Michelle; a sister, Millie (Evans) Meredith of Richland; a brot! her, Mel (Shirley) Gordon of Comstock; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. with Rev. James Dyke officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5-8 PM.
