Freda was born on April 14, 1915 in Kalamazoo, MI and was the daughter of Helmer and Cinny (Haan) Modderman. She attended Kalamazoo Christian School and the Kalamazoo Business College. Freda had been employed by the Kalamazoo Stove Company, Veteran's Hospital, Fort Custer State Home and retired as a case worker for the State of Michigan-Welfare Department in 1976. She was a member of the Fort Custer V.F.W. (Augusta) Post # 7956 - Ladies Auxiliary. Freda enjoyed bowling and playing a round of golf, but her best of times, were spent with her friends going out to dinner. Freda will be missed by her daughters, Gail F. (Peter) Petersen of Galesburg, MI and Patricia R. Raymer of Helena, MT; her four grandchildren, Abigail White, Beth (Rob) Wilson, Nicki (Gary) Eichhorn and Lance (Melanie) Raymer; four great-grandchildren, Elliott and Davy Wilson, Mandy (John Lee) Fantr! oy and Nathan Eichhorn; a great-great- grandson, Nira Lee Fantroy; her brother, Richard (Carol) Modderman of Kalamazoo and a nephew, Peter (Suzanne) VanDyken of California. Freda was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, F. Richard Wilson and Gerald Alm; her granddaughter, Shauna Raymer; her son-in-law, David Raymer and by three sisters, Ann Doederlein, Effie VanDyken and Wilma Modderman. The family would like to thank Mardie Wilson for her extra attention and care, above and beyond the call of duty, over the years. Also, Alberta Smith of Driftwood Estates, for her very special care and time given because you made Mom's last days more pleasant, healthy and safe. At the request of the family, friends may call on Thursday, May 8th from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Augusta Chapel, 307 N. Webster Street The memorial service to celebrate Freda's life will be held on Friday, May 9th at 11 AM at the Augusta Chapel with the Rev. Ericka L. Parkinson, Associate Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Richland, officiating. Final interment will follow in Augusta Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Freda's honor may be made to the Fort Custer V.F.W. Post # 7956, 13540 West M-96, Augusta, MI, 49012.
