She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1939 with a BA in education. In 1941, she married her former biology instructor, George M. Savage and moved to Michigan. She worked in the drafting department at General Motors for the war effort. While raising a family, she earned her pilot's license to fly small planes. She worked for the March of Dimes and inaugurated a pre- school enterprise in Portage, Michigan (now known as the Celery Flats) and taught there for 15 years. She traveled the world with our father and later by herself, experiencing life on five continents. She was a woman of uncommon intelligence and curiosity and charm and compassion. She loved popcorn and awful puns. She made of her life a gift for her children. She is survived by her son, Marc Savage and his wife, Sharon, who reside in Sun City, AZ and their daughter, Laura Fazio, her husband, Troy and so! n, Jake, who live in Los Angeles; by her daughter, Valerie Misasi and her two children, Marc and Annie Misasi, who live in Schoolcraft, MI; by daughter, Lisa Frank and her husband, Harald, who live in Westcliffe, CO; and by her daughter, Wendy Savage and her daughter, Nicole Savage, who live in Phoenix, AZ. Adeline will be interred next to her husband of 45 years, George, in Kalamazoo, MI. There will be a small ceremony for her in Michigan this summer. Published in the Kalamazoo Gazette on 5/11/2008.
