Dick was born December 25, 1943 in Kalamazoo to Arthur O. and Maxine (Earle) Standish. He was united in marriage to Denise Hart on June 12, 1976 in Kalamazoo, who survives him. Dick honorably served in the U.S. Navy until his retirement in August of 1991. Among his rewards and citations are, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation Gallantry Cross and Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation Civil Actions. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign War. Surviving Dick are his wife, Denise; children, Richard A. Standish Jr., of Vicksburg, James (Jenny Bailey) Standish of Kalamazoo, Julie (Justin Frost) Standish of Kalamazoo and Adam Standish of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Dakota, Riley and Hayden; mother, Maxine; brothers, Terry Standish, David (Sandy) Standish and Brian Standish; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father, Arthur; step-father, Charles P. Tabbia. V! isitation will be Wednesday, May 7th from 4-7:00 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo . A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 13th, 11:00 AM at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Arrival time at Ft. Custer must be between 10:45 - 11:00 AM with all attendees lining up in the Cortege area.
