WHITMAN, Kalamazoo, Died July 19, 1998. She was born September 9, 1907 in Traverse City, MI, the daughter of John and Dexa (CRESSWELL) CORYELL. She earned her B.A. from the University of Michigan and her MLS from Western Michigan University. She was a retired librarian from the Kalamazoo Public Library, and was an avid gardener and bridge player. She was a 50 Years plus member of the First United Methodist Church, member of Sigma Kappa Sorority-University of Michigan, Advisor at WMU Sigma Kappa, Daughters of American Revolution-Lucinda Hinsdale Chapter, Kalamazoo Garden Club, and the Prose & Poetry Book Club. Surviving are 1 daughter, Cheryl (Burton) TENBRINK of Kalamazoo; daughter-in-law, Marlene WHITMAN of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Cory (Susan) TENBRINK of Pueblo, CO, Carl TENBRINK of Kalamazoo, Kelly and Shannon WHITMAN of Kalamazoo; great-grandchild, Benjamin TENBRINK of Kalamazoo; 1 sister, and 1 brother; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in ! death by her husband, Hamilton E. WHITMAN in January of 1994; and a son, Anthony WHITMAN. There will be no visitation. Services will be held 2 p.m. August 15, 1998 at the First United Methodist Chapel, 212 S. Park St., Kalamazoo, MI. The Rev. Sandy Elfring officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
