Of Schoolcraft Jim saw the face of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday afternoon, July 6, 2008. He was born January 31, 1948 in Battle Creek, the son of James and Flora (Swafford) Rothwell. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed by Plainwell Paper for 17 years, until his retirement. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and baseball. He loved his family and friends, but most importantly, he loved God. Jim was a true man of faith who desired to glorify God in what he was called to do! He will be missed by his family, many in our community and other places; because of his compassion for others that came from his love and dedication to the Lord. On September 23, 1987, Jim was united in marriage to Laura Cowper, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Erica Rothwell of Pennsylvania, Kristopher and Nicholas Rothwell, both of Schoolcraft; five grandchildren; his mother, Flora Rothwell; brother, John (Leigh) Rothwell of Ce! resco, MI; mother-in-law, Anna Cowper; and nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his father, James Rothwell in 1998. Funeral services for Jim will be at 11:30 AM on Thursday at Valley Family Church of Kalamazoo, 995 Romence Road. Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Wednesday (tomorrow) at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street.
