Howard was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on September 17, 1942, to the late John and Mae Doornbos. He has resided in Ocean Ridge, Florida, since his retirement from Alvan Motor Freight, Kalamazoo, Michigan, in 2001. Howard was a devoted husband and loving father. He enjoyed spending time on his boat, Seas the Day, watching baseball, playing cards with friends and family and walking the beach with his wife. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Kay Doornbos; his daughter, Valerie Kay of Royal Palm Beach, FL; two sons, Kenneth Howard of Galesburg, MI and Steven John of Ocean Ridge, FL; two brothers and one sister, Clarence (Janice) Doornbos of Ada, MI, Robert (Cherie) Doornbos of Hudsonville, MI, Ruth (David) Hoeksema of Boynton Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Brittanie, Brandon and Alexander; sever! al aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many loving and caring friends. A celebration of his life will take place on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 1:00 PM at the South Campus of Christ Fellowship Church, 5312 Northlake Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33418. Refreshments following the service at the home of Tom and Debbie Geary, 9846 Daphne Ave., Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the One Life Ministry of Christ Fellowship Church, 5343 Northlake Blvd., Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33418.
